I have an Australian kelpie - Rusty - who is turning 7yo this year. About 2 and a half years ago, he had his first seizure. He was put on medication against epilepsy as the vets ruled out all other reasons. Unfortunately, the pills were having horrible side effects (gained a lot of weight, was depressed and anxious constantly, refused to move, - was practically a completely different dog). The vet decided it would be best to ween him off the pills, so we did. Now for the last year, Rusty has been getting one seizure every month on the same day (usually 1st or 2nd day of the month), but on all other days, he is his happy, energetic self. However, he was due for a seizure a few days ago, but he had 2 instead of 1.
I am really worried about him and am scared that they will get worse. I am not sure what I can do to help... He was abused by his previous owner (about 4 years ago), so maybe that plays a role in this?
