I want to sell my house (brand new but tiny yard, in a new high density development) and buy an older house in an established suburb.
My first priority is a bigger yard. For my daughter and so we can have room for a trampoline, veggie patches, fruit trees (and climbing trees) and chooks, but also for the dogs of course. I might consider adopting a second dog if we have a larger yard.
But second on my priorities list is having a good dog walking area nearby. Dog walking is the first thing I do every single day of my life. And if I didn't have to drive to a decent off leash area, I'd more often take the dogs for a second walk too.
And I found the perfect spot. It's fairly far from the city center and therefore still affordable. And there's a permanent creek, surrounded by greenery, that goes for kilometres and the whole area is off leash! I went there today to motivate myself and it's just fabulous. Part of it is park like, with lots of grass and dotted with gumtrees and some deciduous ones. Then there's a nature reserve (the only one I know of where dogs are allowed off lead, I checked the sign 3 times) which is more bush like and has walkways along the edge of a gorge. It's just beautiful. No roads nearby, everyone I passed said hello back, and there's a path on both sides, so I could take my kick scooter.
I did get confused when I got to a pond, on the 'park' side and while I was waiting for Banjo to finish her swim, I finally noticed a sign that had a 'no dogs allowed' sign with an arrow in the direction we were heading in and a dogs on leash sign pointing in the other direction, but not clear exactly where it was pointing to. And when I went closer to the sign, I noticed in small letters 'no dogs in water'! I'll just turn back a bit earlier next time. At least there is always the creek to swim in.
Anywho. I don't care if I have to buy a total wreck of a house, this is where I will live one day!
