beautiful pooch - that's all I can tell
Agreed. Looks like were in the same boat. haha.
Daschund cross cavalier?
Could be. Seems like a reasonable guess. Im looking at adopting her and am just wanting to find out if the breed/breeds she could be suffer from any issues I should know about.
I thought daschund cross also, crossed with what, dunno, face looks a bit labradorish but she's pretty small to have lab in her
Thanks for all your answers guys. Ill take all of your suggestions on board.
puppy mill special
There's quite a few dogs that look like that down our local park.
Bits of la hasa apso, maltese, shi'tzu - all of those have long backs. The dog in the picture looks like it might have been shorn or clipped. And maybe a bit of cavalier.
Several of the long backed puppy mill specials are having major problems with their backs, slipped disks, trouble walking, joint problems in the legs - ie the feet twist out and the knees knock in so by the time the dog is 8 or so - it has major problems walking.
So much for hybrid vigour resulting in healthier dogs.
So if you like this dog - you could be buying into many vet problems - or none. It's a lotto but the vet has the best chance of winning. Pet insurance might help if you're not willing to spend 6K or so getting joint problems investigated and sorted.
And it's 8 or 9 months old - which is right in the middle of doggy adolescence when they develop selective hearing, destructive habits, and sudden and irrational fears, and rush around with somewhat more energy than some owners can deal with.
My brother picked up a Groodle this way. It's ENORMOUS and the previous owners just couldn't cope with a giant clumsy dog (that was such a cute puppy for a month), that was crashing into their fragile sensitive children. Wrong dog in wrong house. It's doing much better at my brother's house.
So - I'm not saying don't get the dog, just be aware that you could be getting a lot of trouble especially for the first few months of adolescence.
Is she desexed and microchipped?
