Thanks for the advice. At the moment I am feeding her outside but she is a little reluctant to sneak past the lounge to get to the outside so I have been taking her there to eat. But your advice made sense and I have moved her food and water to her safe place and she is eating it really well - so thank you for that tip.
Progress has been steady. The thunder coat seems to be helping with her anxiety and I have been working on her interaction with my eldest child a bit at a time. She is now taking treats off of him and goes to him unprompted for a pat and some attention. She no longer cowers in the garage during the day and has found some nice spots in the garden to explore. So bit by bit she is beginning to trust her new environment. I realise now that it will be a lengthy process but she is more than worth it and we all love her to bits!
