OK guys, i'm interested in your thoughts here.
Long story short ... neighbors kid leaves gate open, 2 staffys go for walkies, find cat and attack it, council called and now they are in the pound.
The owner told me today that the ranger she spoke to wont release the dogs back to her until tomorrow at earliest and only after he speaks to the cat owners, his boss and inspects her yard.
He said worse case scenario, the dogs are declared dangerous, $220 each for wondering dogs, another $200 or so each for unregistered dogs .....and whatever the vet fee for the rat chaser is.
Now i agree that's fair but ..... declared "dangerous" ??? I cant see why that would be the case unless they ripped down the fence and entered a backyard to attack the cat. They are far from dangerous dogs as far as kids and human go. Very friendly actually.
We don't know the full details of the cat attack yet other than "it's alive" . I'm hoping it was in a unfenced front yard or out on the road. 90% of houses here aren't fenced at the front.
I admit the dogs and owner are at fault here ......but surely it doesn't make a dog dangerous just because it went for a cat ?.
