i sure echo all of the above.
taking on a older than pup dog, you never know what your getting. Coz for the first couple of weeks, you've got odd behaviour they wont normally do, once settled in. Id say its taken 3 months to see Brian's true colours come through. Not all welcome either.
Its taken me a while to bond. I believe bordeaux's dont salivate quite so much as pups, perhaps that 'lead up' phase would of been good for us. A sudden, gushing slobber monster is hard to adjust to.
But adjust we have. Perahps slower for me, than if it had been a pup. We got there in the end though.
I will say, that taking on a teen or adult dog, does come with some prior training. I think its safe to assume, some lessons they have learnt, they should not of. So you have a heap of unlearning to do with the dog.
That's the set back of taking on someone else's give up.
