Rubberlegs, this is Roxy our BC x Koolie rescue.
Hyper sensitive, very smart (me thinks) and very hard to train. She used to be a working dog but was no good so after her owner (I am not calling these people breeder although I gather they produce lots of litters) bred her, they dumped her. We got her because we wanted Nero to have a friend. Initially she was freaked out by him playing rough. In fact she was freaked out by almost everything. The transformation she has gone through in a year is quite stunning. From cowering in a corner to little Miss Busybody only afraid to miss out on something interesting.
There are still hickups and moments when she freezes in anxiety and sometimes it's difficult for me to figure out what I've done now. But overall she is pretty happy and confident most of the time. She is not 'my' dog though. She is OHs dog. He is her most favourite person in the whole world. I'm sometimes struggling to understand what's happening in her head.
No such problems with Nero - he is like an open book for me. I always know what he is on about. Right now he is sitting on the deck, looking at me through the window and his look clearly tells me to get off my bum and bloody walk them!
