I'm looking at the Parasite Prevention Product Comparison chart my vet gave me at my puppy's last visit, and I'm a bit confused. There are so many products, but many of the products don't offer protection against all the parasites on the chart (heartworm, roundworm, hookworm, whipworm, tapeworm, fleas, paralysis tick, ear mites). Let's say forget about the tick, fleas and earmites as you can treat them externally. There are still many products that don't cover whipworm and tapeworm... are those worms not very common in Australia (but if not why would they be on the chart)? Or do you use separate products for heartworm and the other worms? I'm not sure how to interpret the chart as it seems like only one product listed protects against all the worms, which makes me wonder if they made this chart just to promote that brand (I might be paranoid).
Also, if you have dogs and cats as well, do you use the same medication on both species or do they need to be species-specific? And if your cat is indoor only, should you still worm it as it's exposed to the dog?
Lastly, can you recommend any online pet supply stores within Australia?
Thanks in advance
