I have lovely old dog "Kodi", who is currently suffering with arthritis in both her back knees and her left elbow. She has been having cartrophen injections and although there has been a bit of improvement she is not great.
She doesn't complain but she struggles to get up and get down and the vet reckons that she is in pain.
I had a vet visit today and she had another cartrophen injection but was recommended to put her on anti-inflammatories as well as sasha's blend plus more cartrophen injections.
I was told that this will help with the pain but ultimately her legs will fail her and eventually she will need to be put down as she will probably be unable to toilet herself.
She is 13 and a half years old and i know that eventually the time will come for her to say goodbye, but it still hurt hearing this.
I was recommended one other thing. Stem cells!
They take a sample of fat from her side and put it in their special machine for three hours to separate the stem cells and then it's injected back into her joints that need it.
It is supposed to rebuild the cartilage that has disappeared.
I am just wondering if anyone has been down this route before or know of anyone that has?
I don't want my old girl suffering and from what i've read it seems to have a fairly good success rate.
I just really wanted peoples opinions on this or whether i'm mad to even consider it.
If you think dogs can't count, try putting three dog biscuits in your pocket and then giving Fido only two of them. ~Phil Pastoret
