So I woke up at 4:30 this morning after a nightmare that somebody was trying to break into our house with guns, I noticed the house seemed more 'creaky' than usual but thought it was probably just the wind so got out of bed, turned the light on my phone so I could see and went to the bathroom. I was laying back in bed for about 30 seconds and then Molly started barking insanely aggressively (in the garage), so I grabbed the light on my phone again and started walking down the hallway to tell her to be quiet. When I got to the foyer where our front door is, I heard somebody running for their life along our veranda and down the stairs, I panicked a bit and rather than looking out the window, I ran to the bedroom to get my partner. I should have looked out the window but I just didn't think, I was naked so felt more 'exposed' and in my dream, they had guns haha! When my partner looked outside, our front gate was wide open so I definitely wasn't imagining it.
We rang the police but they weren't interested as I didn't see anybody, they didn't even ask where in Australia we were from which I thought was a bit silly in case they also had other reports in this area, we noticed our neighbour's light was on at the same time too so I'll go over there later and see if they had a problem as well.
My partner is at work now and I'm sitting on the couch completely freaking out as it's only been an hour and is still dark so he/she could still be hanging around. Our house is built so every bedroom has a glass sliding door that leads to our veranda, we always leave our glass door open and screen shut of a night because we get a lovely breeze but last night I ran outside quickly for something and forgot to lock the screen again, so I'm hoping they weren't in our bedroom at some stage (nothing is missing- and I've checked in all the cupboards and under beds ) and I seriously hope the perve wasn't looking through the curtains and watching me sleep naked.
We cleaned our garage out yesterday and there were a few groups of 'suspicious' looking people walk past (we spent a lot of extra money buying a house in an 'upper-class' suburb but lately there hasn't been nice people around) so I think they might have seen a few things they wanted (motorbike) but didn't realise we had dogs.
So anyway, VERY thankful to have Molly right now because Meika and the cat did nothing and she will be getting lots of cuddles, belly rubs and extra breakfast this morning!
