I've just joined on here and am hoping that you can advise me whats best to do or how I can help my puppy (Belle).
I just picked up her up yesterday (Saturday 27/04/2013), she is an 8 week old Maltese Shitzu and had all her vaccines on Thursday.
She got sick in the car on the way home which is normal, and has taken to life in her crate very well - a little too well. She had normal poos all day yesterday and is getting there with the potty training, however she is not eating her food and barely drinking water - she has had one or two bites of kibble that she had been on from her breeder but nothing else - I even tried canned food this morning to get something into her but she has no interest.
She was great last night making noise to be let out to potty. Then this morning she is having difficulty going potty, then she had runny poo and clear poo with spots of blood. I then found a long worm coming out of her bum which I removed, this was alive. The breeder did tell me to worm her today - so I did that - but now she just is sleeping in her crate and has no interest in coming out - I bring her out to go potty - and she is hiding under things to shy away. when I try to give her cuddles she is walking away and just going back into her crate or hiding ubder a cushion on my couch - I don't want to force her. Any poos that come now are small and either a clear drop with a spot of blood or runny poo.
She seems just so sad and depressed and the fact that she is not eating is really worrying. She is just sleeping in her crate all day except when I brought her out for a quick walk in the park across the road which she really didn't enjoy
The pet shop said this is all normal for her second day in my house and the fact that she has worms explains the lack of interest in food - but i really am so new to all this and want some advice or more peace of mind from experienced owners? I am more than willing to bring her to the vet - but don't want to seem OTT but really want her to settle in.
Thank you in advance for your help or advice.
