At the end of last year, when the weather was really humid, my female staffy got ear infections and red, itchy paws and an itchy anus. I took her to the vet and he put her on steriods which temporarily helped so they kept her on the steriods, a small dose to try to keep it under control. It didn't. She put on more weight and still had an itchy anus that she dragged on the carpets. I took her to another vet that diagnosed her with a yeast infection and changed her diet completely and gave her homeopathics to treat it. For the first week, she was happier and had less symptoms, but now she's back to scratching and she seems really uncomfortable. I feel like we're doing everything we can to stop it, but it seems to be getting worse. I've been washing her in mediderm twice a week and I'm going to call the vet on Tuesday to see what else we can do to help her. Poor little honey. I just want her to stop scratching herself so badly..
Any suggestions would really help?
