It was probably a mistake trying to take my new puppy and old dog for a walk in our local park during a public holiday as once again we were run up on by yet another off lead dog. He was with two women who were riding push bikes and was running ahead of the bikes. The women were just chatting away totally ignoring what their dog was doing. This annoys the hell out of me and I hate it.
I live in a very small country town (Boorowa) where many people let their dogs run loose on the street and the majority of people (it seems from what I've observed) take their dogs to the park off lead. When their dogs run up to me they just smile and say "Oh He's FRIENDLY don't worry!" as if they can predict everything their dog or a strange dog it runs up on will do.
It's hit or miss if I can find a day when this does not happen to me so I'm taking my dogs out for walks less and less and trying to avoid the park as it's a lost cause. Nobody out here wants to obey leash laws.
Anyway, my husband is very ill and currently in hospital and we are seriously considering selling our semi rural property out here anyway. I would like to move to someplace that has a dog park where they enforce leash laws and have an off lead area for people who want to take their dogs to the park off lead.
Well, actually, just come to Boorowa in Southern NSW if you want to have your dog in an off lead dog park because THE ENTIRE PARK OUT HERE SEEMS TO BE AN OFF LEAD ONE!!!!!
Anybody out there know if some of these cities are any better for obeying lead laws... GOULBURN NSW? YASS NSW? (I've actually walked my dogs in Yass on several occasions at the Riverbank Park and most people there do seem to keep their dogs on lead) YOUNG NSW? ANY OTHER TOWN PEOPLE COULD RECOMMEND THAT ENFORCE LEASH LAWS AND ARE SAFE PLACES TO WALK YOUR DOGS?
