After talking my 12 y o son out of getting a siberian husky for his 1st dog (what a relief) we compromised on a golden retriever puppy. We went to breeder 1 where we secured a puppy only to be told when we got home that she had changed her mind and a previously rejected client got priority over us as she talked the breeder into giving the puppy to her. Ok, these things happen. So we went to breeder 2 (all well accredited I should say). We picked another lovely puppy only to have the same thing happen. All other breeders were too far away to be practical to see the puppies so we then compromised on another type of dog, a spoodle which was more the size we wanted anyway. We contacted a breeder again, chose a puppy, sent the deposit and waited for delivery as breeder was a fair distance away (by this time we were ok about just seeing photos and videos but not entirely happy). Guess what, the chip number that we thought corresponded to a photo turned out to be the wrong chip number for that photo and the puppy that we lodged out deposit for had gone.
By now we were fed up with breeders and drove the 10 minutes down to the pet shop, a strategy that many people in the dog world told us not to do. Right away we found a lovely spoodle pup that we could see and feel and we bought her. The pet shop has professional back up and follow on free vet checks. So I don't know why people are so precious about breeders not to mention designer dogs. cheers Roger
