IMO the most responsible thing to do is get the dog you really want, if you want a puppy from a good breeder then that is fine. If you wanted to help the situation though for rescues you could try fostering, to actually take on a dog is a huge commitment which is why it should be done in a way which suits you.
The only thing which came to my mind was that your first puppy is now 6 months which I'm guessing is past the 'really cute' stage and now you are getting another. It's good to think things over beforehand just to be 100 percent sure that the puppy stage isn't having an effect on your decision to get another.

It wouldn't hurt to just check out the older dogs too which are listed. They often come from good breeders as well.
