My big goof is covered in what looks like Hot spots. But they are appearing at a very fast rate. First a few little lumps on the top of his head. I thought they might just be the usual battle wounds from Bronx and his chompers but then they appeared all over his feet the next day. By the next morning on our way to the vet i noticed them on his belly and legs.
He's not bothered by them but some are even starting to bleed a little. A skin scrap didnt show any signs of mites so he's on a coarse of 2 types of antibiotics.
If they havnt got any better after 7 days he's going to get a injection of somthing that i've forgotten the name of. So it Malaseb baths every few days and 2 pills twice a day. It surprised me how quick this has spread.
The vet said they are seeing lots and lots of skin issues after the floods up here. Little things turning into big issues for alot of dogs at thye moment. The ground hasnt dried out 2 weeks on from the floods and now its raining again....grrrrr.
It was his first visit to the vets for a while now and he was just as excited to see the girls as usual. 50 kg's of excited Bullmastiff made taking the skin scrapes very interesting with 3 of us covered in fur and slobber !!!! Luckily for him the girls at vets just adore him and he obviously adores them still. Makes it a bloody mission though when he is hypo and wanting to play. I always wonder what it must sound like when they check his heart rate...must be like a drum roll or a machine gun.
$220 later........the joys of owning big dogs !!!!
