Neighbour and Their Dog
So I have this neighbour that has a few small yappy dogs. Every time I go out to water the garden or hang my clothes I hear "Yap Yap Yap" and paws running up and down the fence. If I'm lucky I even get a view of a snout through a crack in the bottom of the fence. I'm not too much bothered by dogs barking at all as I've grown up with them my entire life. Usually I just bark back or talk to them.
So one day the neighbour hears the dog barking at me and yells "MAX! SHUT UP!" and of course Max doesn't listen and continues to Yap. Later, when I come out to collect my dried clothes, there is Max letting me know he has something to say. I felt like Max deserved a reply for all he was getting on about, so I said "Hey Max, sure is a lovely day isn't it?" To my surprise I got a response from the neighbour: "Who F'ing talks to dogs!?" I thought it was a bit strange cause early that day he told Max to shut up, which I took as someone talking to a dog and I told him so.
Needless to say that didn't go over very well, we exchanged a few 'pleasantries' Max got told to shut up again, I grabbed my clothes and went inside. So now I am worried that I might have put Max in a bad spot. If he barks again, which he will 100% do, I think my neighbour may react with more than a shut up
Anyone here have an idea on how I can prevent that from happening without being intrusive It hasn't happened yet, but it's just a hunch I have. The barking really doesn't bother me and I let him know. I just hope he listened.
