I can tell when people go on holidays and employ the visiting carers. The carers arrive each morning/and/or evening - maybe, if they're good, they exercise and feed the dog. the rest of the time, the dog is in the backyard, either bored out of it's brain - and barks, or is locked out of the house where it usually resides - so barks. I don't really think that it is a viable solution to the problem of what you do with your dog when you go on holidays. Personally, I would prefer to have someone come into my home and care for it and my dog. Usually, if I can't take my dog, I don't go. Simple as that. I have put my dog into board, and come back to find her rather depressed. She was cared for, but didn't get the interaction she was used to. Took a couple of weeks to get back into routine.
