I'm the proud parent of a beautiful 13 year old lab who is the light of my life. I've recently lost my job and he has been my rock through this tough emotional and financial time.
This week I've been noticing him slow to get started, to me it's looking like osteoarthritis in his hips or back legs.
My house is on the side of a steep hill and he's having trouble getting up the stairs to get to the grass so toileting on the back porch. I don't if he's in pain; he's way too happy to show it if he is.
I've spoken to my vet's nurse over the phone today to get some general information while I save for a vet visit and she let me know some of the treatments and their costs.
Is there anything anyone can recommend that might help my boy before we see the vet in two weeks? His bed is warm, off the ground; I'm ok with him toileting on the back porch. He's uninterested in walks and doesn't like water so exercising options are limited. There wasn't more the vet nurse could help with until we came in for a check up.
Any advice would be fantastic. Thank you!
