I think dog beaches, like dog offleash parks, are a law unto themselves. And whilst my hairy pups were young, it was them jumping and frisking strangers bulging pockets lol
If i want peace, i too go to other end of beach. But ive only gone there for peace once, when dog had stitches. Other than that, it zoomies all the way crazy times.
No jumping though these days. Plenty of ball theft, treats begged from others, and a few quick humps/being humped thrown in for good measure. Its nuts down there! But im one of the nuts.
That knee in the chest trick. Yes there are far better ways to train this. They take a week or two. Knee in chest takes 2 seconds. Done correctly, it only needs doing once. I'm ambivalent about this method, as i have used this successfully too.
With Kevin, my last rottie, he'd forget his training and jump, and when he landed, folks would be knocked over. So i reverted to this technique in desperation. And it worked.
But there is a whole heap of difference between training a dog with a aversive applied correctly, correctly timed, and once. Than cruelty in an ongoing scenario.
