My puppy loves to dig. Especially in one corner of the yard where there is only soft loose dirt and weeds. A few days ago, I decided to give her a pig's tail because I was leaving for three hours. When I gave her the pig's tail and she was chewing happily, I realised that I needed to use the restroom. Once I was out I decided to check up on the puppy. She greeted me like usual, with a wagging tail and an impatient whine. But then I realised that... the pig's tail had gone. It was nearly impossible for her to devour a whole pig's tail within a minute especially as she is a slow chewer. Either way, I had to leave for three hours.
When I got back I wanted to get to the bottom of this mystery. So I gave her a smaller hard to chew thing, like a small pressed rawhide bone. I sat down on the garden bench and watched as she foraged around the garden, sometimes dropping the bone. I listed the possibilities of a disappearing tail. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw her turn a corner. In a minute, she came back around without the bone. Like anyone would, I myself came across the corner and looked around. Nothing except the earth and weeds (not a great gardener now am I?). Now I was pretty sure that she had dug a hole, but just to see where, I gave her another pressed bone. Same as last time, she disappeared around the corner. Same as last time she came back with nothing: Same as last time, I missed the short period where she dug the hole. Yet again I decided to give her a pressed bone. This time I followed her around the corner. Now I actually saw her dig the hole and bury the bone. But when I tried to uncover the bone I found nothing at all. Damn.
Two days later, I see her running around with a pig's tail.
