Hi, some of you know me on here from losing my little dog Scrappy- over on Pet Memorial. One of my other dogs Pookie is a rescue, approx 7-8 years old and has always had a luxating patella on the right leg - dumb dumb me didnt know such things could be fixed. It has never really bothered her, oh by the way she is a chihuahua/jack russell cross, but just lately when she gets up in the morning and when she settles in the evening she is kicking out her legs from time to time, this does not happen every day, maybe once or twice a week, Im very concerned she may have arthritis in the luxating leg and the 'good' leg that has always had to support the other leg.
Is it worth her having an operation to fix it at her age. She is on a diet to lose more weight, and Ive cut all carbs out of her diet (supposed to help with arthritis) her diet is cooked beef, cooked chicken, veg, salmon, sardines, occasional egg etc, and she is on Sashas blend and fish oil.
SOrry, my question is, is it too late to fix the luxating patella? What experience have other people had with this problem?
