I take care of my friends breeding pair (some years ago now) of bulldogs when she goes away, with the agreement, that should i need it, she'd do likewise.
They are two gorgeous dogs, and almost enough to make me forgive the noise, but not quite.
I saw them for first time in a year last night. I was saying how Em, the 11yr old girl has really gotten old, more so than felon, the 12 yr old nutter of a bulldog, that's still a nutter, just a slow immobile nutter, not so much fetch a ball these days, more look where it went, then back at you, then back at ball lol
The female had various stains around each and every orifice to her body from constant oozing. Chronic ear infections, chronic UTI's, arthritis, bad breath, lumpy, bald, doubly incontinent now, but seriously, the smell was bloody awful. A long time past PTS time or what?
The boy is ancient too. But more mobile, and still wagging his tail though not getting up to see me for around 10 mins it took him to get up. And not smelly.
Do i mention this? Do i pretend this is fine? I decided on leaving without saying a thing to my friend.
But as she was aware of smell, she had us outside eating dinner at 7.30pm with really cold fog in the garden as it gets too smelly for girl to go inside with visitors. Especially if you are eating.
I did gently ask her, do you think she is in pain? she seems to be whimpering. But as she had a ear infection and has repeat anti biotics, my friend said yes, and attributed her whingeing to that.
And her Vet has made a packet out of my mate over the yrs of C Section deliveries, to this and her previous Dam. Isnt he sposed to say something?
