Sammie Leigh, The system you are talking about is called an Invisible Fence. Most pet stores carry them or you may find one at your local rural supply store.
They do work well for keeping some dogs within specific boundaries. I say some because I have heard of dogs that sort of hold there breath as it were, and sprint across the wire on the ground if the distraction tother side is big enough.
You may find that you need to trim your dogs hair around where the collars probes are as Malamutes have vey thick fur.
I would in any case recommend you run a length of galvanised weld mesh along the outside of the run and, if you can, concrete the bottom couple of inches into the ground. This will not only keep the dog out but also foxes and if you use a finer chicken mesh for the main fence, rats as well.
