I would guess that Mojo's a 'molly duker' or 'goofy'....he always shakes with his left first. He loves to shake hands...always offering it to people. but if you ask him to shake with the right paw he seems really uncomfortable about it.
There is a test for paw dominance.
It's something like get your dog to sit-stay.
Put a kong or other toy loaded up in front of dog about 1m (several steps away) and then release your dog to get the kong. What paw does your dog use first? Repeat 100 times - record results - that's what paw your dog is dominant with.
My dog is fairly ambidexterous with slight leaning towards right paw'dness. I don't know if left or right pawedness is 50/50 or less or more skewed one way or the other. Humans might have been 50/50 but some religious nut decided that left pawdness was evil and I suspect evolution after that favoured the Right Handed.
Cheers Maximus. Ive never understood, now i think i do. Pohm was a breeding from 2 bordeaux's, but 4 pups were bordeaux and 4 pups rottie markings, with a neighbour who had a entire rottie, hence 4 mongrels in the litter born at same time all 8 pups. So next question?
For the 4 pups who were bordeaux, would the breeder of been able to register them as pedigree?
No, the breeder cannot register them as pedigree as they allowed a crossbreed mating. Doesn't matter if half the litter is pure, they would still be struck off for cross breeding.
Has anyone ever actually been struck off the ANKC for cross breeding?
I've heard of someone being excluded from ANKC sports for using a zap collar for training - but that's about it.
I suppose the rule about cross breeding doesn't apply if all three dog parents are pedigree of the same breed. But that isn't what is described here.
Yep, it can be anywhere from 1 year to a lifetime ban. ANKC relies on people reporting others doing the wrong thing so many slip through the cracks.
One of the many reasons dodgy breeders will dump the crossbred pups off at the pound and no-one knows about them.

Wouldn't it be great that 'Guide Dogs Australia' could come up with something like this and use it so that they could use it to test the pups and that it was really easy to do and not intrusive - and - saved them money !!!!!!
Who would have thought that a chest hair whorl meant so much ?
Fascinating article RileyJ, I'm off to check Misha's whorls
