Thread: What is my dog?

    Default What is my dog?

Hi everyone. I adopted my dog chewy about a year ago from RSPCA and they said his breed was wolfhound but he is no where near as big as one (he's 71cm tall) anyone have any other opinions of why breed you think he could have in him?

Looks like it could be wolfhound/staghound X amstaff or german shepard. It's a beautiful dog whatever it is, looks very strong and well proportioned.

Well, I'm probably showing my age here (Princess Daisy, anyone?)... but this looks like a classic example of what the British Romanies term a 'Lurcher'... a mix of all sorts of giant hounds - Stag, Wolf, Deer, with a bit of Greyhound and from memory, some terrier as well.

Whatever he is though - he sure is lovely!

I agree with Pinkest he's a lurcher, a cross of some wolf/deerhound, probably greyhound, dane etc

Thanks for your thoughts, I have heard someone say they thought he was a lurcher before, you could be onto something there. I was thinking of getting him DNA tested but not sure how accurate the results are as it is necessary to state what they're predominant breed is and also microchip number so that made me a little suss...

I can see Irish Wolfhound and maybe some Staffy due to the brindle colouring.I am not really sure of other breeds.
