Well I have my work cut out for me LOL. I have been very busy with my six dogs, training everyone
Two little feral's arrived over a week ago now. Puppy farms stink major........these little guys are in quarantine on our place.......Love to eat now finally, but had no manners. I can now finally be near them when they eat and they now say hello and will now play around me ( showing off) when i sit with them and even play a little tug.
They really greet me happily now and finally hubby..they were terrified of him, but have decided he is good. Food is not able to be used as a treat/reward, no luring for these guys, they rather not eat at all. I am hoping to use "play-drive" in the future, hence trying to get them to tug.. . It has taken me four days to get them to just eat from my hand, without any pressure at all.
They are not the two girl I expected...they are younger puppies one male and one female. I have called the little girl Tassie, because she was like a little Tassie Devil, growling and shaking. She is now a silly playful tough little girl. Playing a little tug and has put on so much weight. They have finally stopped growling and barking at our dogs, whom they can see from a distance. The little boy is "Curly", he has a curly ear and I think I have fallen for him....Very sweet and adorable, much easier to get near from day one and very cute. he is so cute at tug and so soft. they now both play and bounce around.
Again no luring...Cannot afford to do "nothing in life is for free" as they are too thin and not healthy enough. So we are just guiding at present and they are getting the hang of it......Only praise and petting as reward, because food makes them a little anxious. hard to get them to eat from my hand, they will only do it when we just sit and cuddle.
Not sure what some a$$hole did with food to make the way they are, very worried around food, as if teased a lot with food.
They love bones and do a great job demolishing them to nothing, poops are good now...no more sloppy
They are a training challenge. But amazingly enough are learning to pee and poop outside the kennel room. they love their little crate and blanket to sleep in together and that is kept clean by them so there is hope for them. Pictures have not been successful as they are terrified of the "big eye"...But they will be OK...they really know dog language calming signs..lip licking and yawning has really made them accept me and Mike.
Just sitting in their room and looking away lip-licking and yawning is why they came to visit us..we sure look silly doing it, but if it works it work
