We take Hooch every couple of weeks to an enclosed fully fenced dog park.
He is loving it, he runs around and plays so nicely with all the dogs. We enjoy just watching him beaming.
Today we took him to the park and there was another dog looking very much like Hooch, same build, same size. I asked the owner and they said their dog was an American Staffy. Very cute dog.
Anyway 5 minutes into the play the dog started humping Hooch. (the dog was NOT fixed).
He was humping Hooch non stop for 30 mins-45 mins. He wouldnt let Hooch drink water, he wouldnt let Hooch play. He was just humping him on the back, front side.. wherever. Hooch was trying to get away and was running away or trying to play with the dog but the dog was chasing Hooch singling him out of all the dogs and humping him.
Hooch did not snap once (I was about to snap!). He was so cute and good tempered about it. But to us it was quite annoying because Hooch did not get to play and couldnt even get to drink!
The owners of the other dog were standing there laughing and saying "oh Chevvy" but did nothing about it. At the end of the 45 mins they went home saying "we will let your dog play now".
Is this ok? is this something that just happens at dog parks and is normal, something that we have to put up with?
Next time I am thinking if their dog does it, we will take Hooch away and say to them I dont think it's a good idea. Wait outside the park for them to go and then come back (the park is 30 mins drive from our house so we can't just go home and come back).
It did show us how good natured Hooch is, so laid back and happy. I love my dog.
