updatign the dogs microchip details after our move (cell number still the same so they woulda found us).
I cant find their chip papers so I find some other document with their chip numbers on. But I cant remember which database they are registered with so I find pet address.com and enter Barney's chip number.
He comes up on aar but with my "other" last name from NZ (long story but in NZ I use my dads surname - hes actually my step dad and his name is not legally mine and in Oz, I use my birth name because of ID etc). Im thinking, hmmm thats a bit weird coz the vet in Sydney scanned him and sent the paper work for me. There are minimal details which is also a bit weird. I update them and all is good.
I enter Pippis chip number and nothing. So Im thinking, did she get onto a differnt database. So I go to pet address.com again and she doesnt show up on ANY databse. Her chip was NEVER bloody registered!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And shes a little escaper! How lucky are we that she never went properly missing coz they woulda scanned her chip and got nothing!!!!!
Anyway, I paid the $8 and have put her details on aar too.
But I was thinking, they both had their chip details sent off at the same time by the vet .
Then I realised, Barney was chipped in NZ before he was shipped as part of the import/export conditions and the reason my NZ name was on the register was because the vet in NZ registered him on it before he flew over!!! Which is also why they are on the "australasian" database and not just an Oz one.
God I freaked out last night when I realised Pippis chip was listed. I said to OH today when I left for work "she does not leave your sight until I have done it"
But phew, shes been good lately so I was probably worryign about nothing.
But how typical, the dog who has managed to get off th eproperty a number of times is the one with the useless chip!
Thank god crisis averted
