My daughter happened to stumble across a gated dog park whilst out playing. Have taken Maxi there on numerous occasions. Have met many types of people and dogs there. I find I'm the one to apologize because of Maxi's youthful exuberance and his belief that everyone should love him. Have been trying to teach not to rush towards other dogs (put on hold for the moment) by making him sit and wait, but as soon as they show any interest in him he is up and bouncing around them. It's a case of you need to settle petal before we play. Hence the bubbles come out and Maxi is off and racing after them. I hope that all our future dog park experiences are nice as well, and we never meet the other sad elements of dog parks.
Anybody with hints how I can teach Maxi how to meet new dogs, in a calm manner? We don't want to be known as that annoying little dog and his owner.
