Im thinking Newfie may have used the term "clean" to describe if they are well cared for pups and not likely to have a disease, fleas etc which your pup may catch.

    Got it in one........

I take my puppies to environments from 8 weeks on, where i know the dogs are either vaccinated or titers are done, no ticks/fleas/worms ..the dogs are friendly and social. It is also very important not to give the puppy any scares, so no aggressive dogs or nasty people.

One of my biggest mistakes with one puppy (Katy), was an accidental goose scare....I have never been able to counter condition this. this dog at 68kg is still terrified of geese. That was my fault. I am the only one to blame. I did not have her under my 100% control and she wandered into the geese pen at 10 weeks, to be chased and pecked...NOT Good. And sad, because it is an forever issue with her. She is not worried about chickens or ducks, just geese.
