Talking So excited about future pup

I went and looked at puppies tonight!
And I have picked one out

They only had 4 left to choose from, all boys, I have picked the only who didn't wiggle as much when I held him, he just felt "right" to me!!!
Mum is a beagle, very placid beautiful girl. She loved getting pats and didn't mind at all that I was touching her precious babies.
I didn't meet dad as he is their next door neighbours dog (the neighbours don't know about the pups) but she said his placid and calm and doesnt run around like crazy. He was a show border collie but isnt shown anymore because they have a baby, so IMO the pups shouldnt be too hypo seeing show lines are calmer then working lines.

I had someone comment on my status on facebook to make sure I knew what Im getting myself into and that it will be sooo hard to train and look after. But I love both beagles and border collies! I know that pup will need lots of training and im prepaired for it! I don't think she likes beagles... Heard her talking about someones beagle at dog obedience and didnt sound very nice...

Stupid me being all excited and all, I forgot my camera!!!!! But I'm aloud to go and see him each week so I will remember then.
I had the name Lewis picked out already but he didnt seem like a Lewis so I have to think of names now.
His almost 3 weeks old, so I can't get him for atleast 5weeks, hopefully the time flys by quickly...

The ones she is giving away for free (to people she knows well including myself, who she knows will look after them) are not going to be vacinated by her... Whats the best age for him to get his first vacination?? I was thinking maybe I could arrange for her to take him if she is getting others done and I pay her for that.. Or can it wait until I get him??

Just read up on Beagles, google as many websites as you can.
There is actually a Beagle Only rescue in Melbourne, read what they have to say, and take it on board.
All the best with your new baby.

You have committed the ultimate forum sin and will be punished accordingly!
Congratulations on your puppy, and I love the name Lewis...

Vaccinating at 8 weeks when you get him will be fine and again 4 weeks later, dont forget his worming as well.
Why dont people like Beagles? I have heard that comment from others...

We have a really good beagle at obedience and another couple at tracking that are quite good.......i have spent a lot of time with the one at obedience. The best thing is they love food..it is even more important to a beagle then the sniffing....So if your puppy is beagle like have awesome food to train and some get exited over toys, you have options......If it is more Border like, you will have to find your working dog hat...Lots of drive and high energy play with fun, fun and more fun

Your dog will be what you make it. And if you are keen you will be fine. If you are allowed to see the puppies make sure that it gets used to lots things like noises and people. Some breeders start vaccinations at 6 weeks. Just remember that the person who bred the pups has to get them microchipped in Victoria, otherwise there will be some fines.

    Congratulations by the way

HaHa.. I have a pointer. They share some character traits with beagles and also lead with their nose.
I have been through some tough times with my boy (when I was in total despair) but he has grown into
an amazing dog and we love him to bits.

I get to see him ever week
They will be very used to noises and people because each puppy owner comes each week to look, and they hear the tv, washing machine, dogs barking, ect.

They don't have to get them microchipped if they are giving them to people for free..

Just not just how I'm going to cope for 5ish weeks without my puppy! lol

Beagles are so cute, especially when they are puppies! My step grandmother (best way to describe her) is a beagle breeder, the only thing I am not a fan of is how much they bark! lol but that could be because they are all in kennels/runs during the day time. Crossed with a border collie! Can't wait to see some pictures!
