    Default Meet Bundy

    Hey everyone,

Yesterday we picked up our newest member of the family. His father is a Purebred American Staffy & his mother is a Shar Pei. He is various shades of brown, has a few small Shar Pei folds around his face and a few less around his neck. He has beautiful green eyes, a great personality with a matched temperament.
Just thought I would introduce him (and out of curiosity how long does/did it take your dog(s) to learn their name?).

LOL How gorgeous is Bundy!! Beautiful pooch! Actually not sure how long Oskar took to resopnd to his name, but I don't think it was that long at all. Just say it before every command and he will soon know it!

Cute puppy and welcome.......I think each puppy is different, it just depends on how many important things you attach to the name. Katy was almost instant, as she thought food rewards were very important. So name=food. I think that is why she is so good with the clicker system

16 weeks i beleive. He has started to loosely respond to his name, he sits 90% of the time and is just getting the hang of shake now.

    Welcome Bundy!

As long as you link the name with something good (treats are always the easiest) they will pick it up quite fast.

You could link it to commands, however as the puppy is still learning, it probably doesn't have any commands as such to link it to...? I've always been wary of linking names to every command, as they may just think it is part of the command word, meaning if you didn't say their name before the command they wouldn't perform. Just from my experience with other dogs

He is getting better at it.

He has quite a big day today having his checkup, injections, worming, etc.
He has another big day Wednesday as he has a blood blister on one ear that they are operating on (Day operation). He will be spending the next 3 weeks in a cone and bandaged though.
