The toy with the litters smell works great. Im not too sure on giving them something of mine though, I havnt as I wouldnt want them to associate something of mine with something they can sleep on.. Aka I would be very annoyed if Kaida started helping herself to my clothes!!

How did you go last time you asked about breeders?

    http://www.dogforum.com.au/puppy-dis...eeder-nsw.html

    Did you not find one?

Otherwise there is a border collie club of NSW - it would be worth going to some of their shows or competitions and meeting them - they will be able to help you.

You might find - for a good dog - it's quicker to find a breeder you like and put yourself on their wait list for puppies. I don't know how easy it would be to find a good breeder who has "spare puppies". They're supposed to breed to meet demand - so all potential puppies should have potential owners lined up before the mating even happens.

That last go round was a while ago - what if that breeder is planning a litter now? Are you on her wait list?

when i had pupies b4 they where given to me by mates who had litters

ill ring them and ask can you be on more then one breeders waiting list and if you like more then one breeder

    Hi Shedeivl

I don't know if you can be on more than one list or not. I guess it depends how reliable you are about letting the breeder know if you've found a puppy somewhere else.

I think once they've planned a mating - it would be rude to say you've got a puppy somewhere else if you're at the top of their wait list.

I guess it would be ok to discuss what the protocol is with the breeder is - cos I don't know. Hopefully Crested Love will post something about what the go is.

It also wouldn't hurt to ask if they want you to keep in touch and about how often. If they say "don't email us, we'll email you" then I might ask if that's really a message to contact other breeders.

Meeting breeders face to face and fairly regularily will help them get to know you and decide whether they'd like to home a puppy with you. I think you'd be more likely to be successful that way.
