    Default My New Pup!

Hi guys, I posted a picture of a puppy I thought I was getting a few weeks back (I got her sister instead because my little cousins wanted her) & I didn't know the breed of it except that the mother is jack Russell looking..anyway this is my new puppy, her name is Sookie! She's a little crazy sometimes but I'm hoping obedience training will help calm her down

Also her colouring reminds me of a German Shepard or Rottweiler.

    gorgeous pix Katty.

And glad to see you're looking up the dog star daily and Ian Dunbar stuff.

There's lots of black and tan breeds out there, including Manchester Terriers, and Minature Pinchers (dobermans), her feet look small so hopefully she won't get as big as a Rottweiler (if you were hoping she takes after her mum). Tenterfield terriers also come in black and tan as well as tan and white and all points between.

Most puppies are a little crazy, the trick is to use this to your advantage.

Hyacinth, I don't think she will get as big as a Rottweiler. The mum
Is fully black with a little bit of white. I dont think the mother is fully a jack russell she must be cross something else if not completely another breed. I've always known jack russells to be mostly white with some brown/black patches. Her colouring does look sort of like a manchester terrier. I thought maybe she was part kelpie too since there is a tan coloured kelpie in the area but who knows.

Tristanbonhoffer, I've had her for a week (I was on holidays an had to wait a couple of weeks before I could get her) it's been...interesting, I've taught her how to sit but she isn't house broken properly yet (I've had her outside for the last couple of
days since I moved house) but when I was at my old place she came into my room
early hours of the morning and was crying so I took her outside too pee..but she had alot of accidents in the house! Hard work but I'll be taking her to obedience classes when she's 16 weeks (first to puppy school) and im wanting to get her desexed at 3 months.

Very cute.........I have found crate training for puppies and the on leash with me (umbilical)in the house system works best for my puppies. the first few weeks i take mine out 1/2 -1 hourly when they are awake and after that as soon as they wake or after each feeding or drink. We make doing anything outside rewarding and happy and I totally ignore any mistakes.
I also hang a bell on the door and each time i go out for potty I ring it. Most puppies we have had learn to ring the bell to go potty. My last newfie pup learned in about four days and she was allowed free roam out of the crate at night after four weeks, because she was so good at letting us know when she had to go. But each puppy is different and you just have to manage it as it happens.
Good luck with your training, sounds like you are looking at the right Sites, ian Dunbar is ace

I didn't really want to crate train her because I felt bad if she had to hold it all night lol! Yes Ian Dunbar is awesome!
