    Default Help!

Hi guys, i got my new puppy about 2 weeks ago. He seemed to be good with pooing in the house until a few days ago.. So we didnt bother with the crate training. I didnt agree on it and he was doing fine, but now im thinking we should start using it. I need some opinions as what to do?? Thank you !!

I haven't crate trained any of my dogs.

It's about consistency - when they wake up from a nap, take them out. 30-60mins after a meal, take them out. If they're running around for more than a few mins, take them out.

If they start to be good, keep taking them out. I know I've done it a couple of times - dogs get better, less accidents, I stop consistently taking them out, accidents start again.

    And, be patient

I agree, i have 2 puppies and at first they would wee and poo anywhere, we then started using the puppy pee mats and now we find that they rather go to the toilet outside and will cry when they want to go out. It didnt require "training" but consistancy.
Also you will learn your puppies toilet behaviour, they always go to the toilet after they eat, when they wake up, after playing etc and you will learn that when they start to walk off or go around the corner it means its toilet time.....grab them quickly and take them outside, once they go, praise him/her

The sings I see in my 5 month old border collie are :
loses concerntration in what she was doing
walking in circles around the room on the carpet
sniffing the floor more than normal
    and looking desparate to go
When you see these signs its time to take action quickly and take the dog outside to do its buisness ,always praise the achievment never smack or be angry or even a treat after and as the time goes on the dog will learn its place.
