The owner of the bitch is responsible for looking after her during pregnancy and for the pups when they are born. Plain and simple !!!
Are you saying that it's acceptable for entire males to go around jumping fences and mating with any female they find?

If the boy was nuetered there wouldn't be puppies though.
If the bitch was spayed there wouldn't be puppies.

Im gonna add in here that IF the bitch was keep in a secure back yard, then it should be the dog's owners responsibility really for not having their dog in a secure back yard.

I have an entire male here, and he CANNOT get off my property. It wouldnt matter if the dog next door came into heat because it is impossible for him to get there, therefore there would be no pups from my dog.

Of course, if the bitch hasnt been kept secure then its her owners problems.

At the same time, if I owned a bitch who fell pregnant, I would just accept responsibility as I would be the one to look after the litter.

I've heard of dogs breaking through glass windows to get to bitches, and considering you have crossbreeds, I don't know why he is still entire(unless perhaps he's still young).

Sorry,no matter what. It is the bitches owner responsibility . No matter the dog jumped the fence, dug under ,whatever.....you should of ensure your bitch was safe.I thought mine was,but the glass window soon changed me mind.

Bitches owner now has a litter, its all upto her unfortunately.

We have a male dog who isn't desexed and a female dog who is desexed.

Boss isn't desexed cos he is my fiancé's dog not mine. If Boss got out and got a female pregnant I would help the bitches owner.

The reason why Skip is desexed cos she is working dog and she will come across alot of non desexed male dog. Also we didn't want her and boss to have puppies too.

staff x boxer is dead, would be fairly pointless for him to be neutered I would think.

It doesnt really matter why I have an entire male. He is not for breeding and he can't get off the property and impregnate anyone elses bitches. Our own female is speyed.

    Yes.

And I find that wrong....very wrong.

In the eyes of the law dogs are meant to be confined to a property.

Therefore any male who gets out and breaks into a bitches yard, I think the owners *should* be liable/responsible for part of the costs associated with raising the litter or medical expenses (providing proof of the sire of course).

Which is what I was meaning by my initial post. If the bitch is secure, her owner shouldnt have to bear the brunt of the costs.
