    Smile Puppies Have the Runs

Hi, wasn't sure whether to post this here or in the Breeders section, but here goes. I have a litter of 10 puppies. Rottweiler x Siberian Husky. They are 5 weeks old tomorrow. (Oopsie litter) Since worming them at 4 weeks they have had runny poops. They also started on mushy dry food at the same time. They are having about 1/3 of a cup each of dry food that has been turned mushy by warm water first. What should I do? Other things I have read say that worming sometimes gives them runny poos and it did initially with the 2 week worming but only for a day or two. Each are gaining weight well, 200g a day for the last week. Thank you in advance for any advice

No idea about your question, since I'm not a breeder, but...are you planning to have the dog and bitch desexed?

If they are gaining weight I wouldn't worry too much.
I would take them to the vet if the weight gain slows or they start getting lethargic.

Sierra, my male was desexed, he came home the day after his spay operation and tied with my female with his last shot. We had kept them seperate before the operation because we knew she was in heat as she was due for her desex at the same time but because she was in heat she couldn't have it done without risk. We didn't know this litter could happen. Hence why it was an accidental litter. By the time we found out it was too late to abort without danger to Whiskee.

Puggerup-Thankyou, do you know of anything I can do to make it less messy? Have been having to hose off the towels before we wash them to get the mess off. I don't mind the mess that much because I expected it but I just didnt think it was good for them to have continuously sloppy poops.

Usually the mother cleans up their mess. It's gross to watch, but she should eat it

If not, then use news paper and just replace it twice a day.

Yeah Whiskee doesn't like it. Even when they were born she would lick them to make them wee but as soon as they were bout to poop she wouldn't touch them until they were done. (I don't blame her, it is gross) At least we knew when they were about to, lol.

Newspaper is working a treat so far, if they would stop chewing it and tearing it up, haha. I bought puppy pads and they chewed them up to and dragged them everywhere. I also bought three training mats and they are the only things that cant get chewed but they need to washed all the time. So I think I will just stick with clearing the newspaper 3 times a day.
