And what percentage of the final price would be fair for a deposit, and under what conditions would it be refunded or forfeit.

I guess you'd refund if the puppies died or became ill before they were placed?

And a buyer might forfeit deposit if they changed their mind, and there was nobody else suitable on the wait list for that puppy? Personally I think it would be bad to have someone impulsive enough to change their mind - feel they are forced to take the puppy. I guess it's a balance between the hassle of puppy buyers who don't do as they say they will and leave breeders in the lurch and placing a puppy where it isn't really wanted (by having a non refundable deposit).

Mitte knows all about Spitz - where did he go?

Mitte actually went thru the same breeder that i am buying a pup from,as here. While i could have perhaps placed an order with a breeder closer to me,i liked the sound of Kouzoku and the reputation he has which i found thru this forum after googling more and more information on Japanese Spitz when i had decided that i would for sure finally buy one.

I don't know much about japanese spitz, except they do look extremely cute.

There is a youtube with a circus performer and about 5 or 6 spitz working the crowd. Quite speckky and very cute.

Just heard from the breeder today via email and got told he has a puppy in mind for us This pup will be ready on July 23rd which is about a month sooner than i anticipated due the fact i will be using my tax return, but he says that we can work something out should i wish that puppy,so i emailed him back letting him know i was in love lol.

We ask 1/4 of the total.... and only after 6 weeks of age..... Never before....

If there was a default on our side (pups ill, died etc) then refund is not a issue, and normally depending on their circumstances, financial troubles, changing their mind, etc we would but a example of a time when we didn't is below....
6mth old pup, lady wanted her but didn't have the full payment, so placed a deposit and was to pay the balance two weeks later.... We got the pup desexed straight away after the deposit was paid, didn't hear from the buyer again, I rang her, and she said partner had been laid off work so money problems, I asked did they want to give it a miss atm, she said no he had a new job all will be ok in a week or two (as it usually is).... Didn't hear from her again..... Tried to ring, tried to email, by this time, we just wanted to give them back their money and cancel the arrangement as her behaviour (not emailing, not calling) is not suitable for us, but still couldn't get hold of her.. We waited 3mths, placed pup into a lovely home and figured that after all that time, the deposit was rightfully ours for all the stuffing around.

We also take a deposit to hold a pup, so that people feel secure that they have the pup they want (most times they are pushing to give a deposit) and they can have time to go away and think about it, we are more than happy to cancel an agreement and give back the deposit than to go through with it if they change their mind, we take every pup (at any age) that can't be kept, back and that is more of a pain in the rear then if they stayed here to start with.....

I still love them to this day... don't think I could handle the fur now thou..lol.... they are very independent and can be quite stubborn.. my boy earned several obedience titles.. Ch Alandmeri Snow Crusader... he even featured in a book by Susan Southall showing off his obedience skills...lol... good luck with your pup, are you planning to show... only ask cuz I might see you around the ring.. I'm always saying hi to the japs..

Yes i am very hopeful in showing him. I have plans to go to the Melbourne Show in which the Japanese Spitz will be shown on 22nd September,i believe it is mid week. That way i can actually see what happens, how its done, and also talk with those there about any tips hints etc. He is a show quality puppy as i had asked that of the breeder. I am also going to pre-pay my local vets for a de-sexing so that should i decide i wont show,i can then go ahead and get that done.

Kenji is 9wks old and a boy yes lol. My little baby boy Those are the only pics i have of him so far. Almost as soon as i got those pics i was posting in here to show you all

Kimba looks good And 16? Very nice age.

I am so excited here. I should be getting my group certificate from work next week, then i can take both group certificates to my tax man and drop them off, then 2wks after that will have the return and can finalize the payment on adopting Kenji

My daughter (9 years old) is funny lol. We finally decided to not know the sex of our puppy, but the breeder let it slip in an email so i know he is a boy,but my daughter wasnt here so she doesnt know he is a boy. She has seen the pics, but she hasnt seen the name on those pics either hahaha. So all she knows is what he looks like. She doesnt wish to know what sex 'it' is until we get 'it'.
