Thread: Future New Puppy

  1. #1

    Default Future New Puppy

As many are now aware,i will be getting a Japanese Spitz puppy,if not in an August litter then the litter after. I have looked at different breeders and while i could wait and get a litter from a breeder quite close to me,i have heard so many good stories and so much reputation about a breeder in NSW so i have chosen to go with him,if he permits me to adopt a bundle I still need to pay the deposit yet, hense why i am unsure as to the time i will get one,but regardless i will wait on this breeder even if i dont get one from the August litter.

    Now,my questions

On the matter of de-sexing,i think that has already been answered as being around 5ths old to do this. My reason for asking was that i had adopted a kitten from the local pound who was de-sexed at 6-8wks old. I would personally prefer to wait until the dog is older than what this cat was,but only wait as at 6-8wks they are still babies and it just seems i dont know, cruel in a way to make them go thru that at that age?

Now,question for mitte or anyone else for that matter who could answer lol. I am trying to find a name for my future bundle, and i was something unique and different, with meaning, but still sticking with the Japanese thing (being the breed). I have come across websites with dog names etc,and have chosen both boys and girls names as i do not wish to know the sex of our puppy until we pick him/her up from the airport. Puppys are much like babies, you dont know the sex until they are born. The breeder also likes to match personalities rather than the sex people want, and due the raves he has gotten here also in regards to his breeding,i will leave that choice to him totally. So,while we have now gotten off track, lets get back on track with the question lol. Where do i find a d@mn good site with a lot of Japanese names? Ive googled til my fingers feel like falling off and come up with a few,i also have a few names i have kept in a notepad document with meanings.

    Any help?

    Suki...Beloved.
Satu...Sugar. A very sweet dog name.
    Takara...A treasure--precious thing.
    Yukiko...Snow child.
    Miya...Shinto shrine.
    Tora: Tiger
    Katana: Japanese sword

Yukiko is cute, I can't imagine trying to call Yukiko in the dog park though IYKWIM OH's border collie is called Suki but I'm sure she won't be offended if new pup steals her name.

My cats name is Suki I think it's the best name
A good boys name is Kenshin
Another girls name is Sakura (means cherry blossom)

I like Japanese names, I should watch some more anime to pick a name for my puppy!
Actually you could look up Anime names as well, you could also watch the anime so you know how it is pronounced.

Shinji (shin Gee), Rei (Ray) , Toji (Toe Ge), Asuka (they would say it like Oscar) , Kozo, Misato, Mayumi or Yumi (you me), all characters from Neon Genisis series - only reason I know them really lol Oh and our Japanese boarder in highschool was named Shinji

My puppy was desexed by AWL at 8 weeks old. Didn't seem to bother her that I noticed. Not sure why it would be cruel.

I did read somewhere that dogs desexed before puberty - may grow taller and leaner than ones desexed after puberty. That's not a problem for me either.

I had to wait to pick up Marnie from the dogs' home at 5 months age because they wouldn't let her be desexed til 6 months. In the meantime she went into season so had to delay further, plus she's now at increased risk of cancer from having been in heat.

I wonder why the different standards
