Thread: Strange Sleeping Habits

    Question Strange Sleeping Habits

I've just discovered something a bit strange about our 4 month old's sleeping habits and wondering if anyone can shed any light.

We've got him set up with a crate in a little nook in our laundry. The crate (in our opinion) seems quite cozy; we've got a latex pillow on the floor covered in a blanket and he's also got an extra towel in there to snuggle with.

We don't close the crate at night. For the last couple months, whenever he's tired he'll just wander into the laundry and lie down in his crate. Then it's lights out and we just close the laundry door.

I just checked on him a few minutes ago as he was making some noise but I think he was just dreaming (such a cutie!!) but he wasn't sleeping in his crate but on the floor against one of the walls!

I'm just a bit concerned coz someone told me it's not good for dogs to be sleeping on cold, hard floors (we have floorboards in there).

Can anyone tell me if we a) should be concerned b) are doing anything wrong here?

Apologies for the long-winded post; just trying to give as much detail as possible!

He'll sleep where he's comfy. You'd be surprised how warm they get in their beds, he probably likes the wood floor if he gets a bit too warm. If you check back a few hours later he may well be snug in his bed again!

Agree, they will sleep where they will. Father in Law;s working dog occasionally overnights here. At 14 she has the choice of the veranda, the kennel on the veranda (Pretty is inside and the pups in their pen) and she prefers a hole dug under a tree out the front even in the middle of winter.

Any posts made under the name of Di_dee1 one can be used by anyone as I do not give a rats.

She sounds like mine - laid out on the grass in the early morning with the frost settled on them - they love it! They just hate getting too hot!

Madeline is like that too sometimes. I'll go out to close the door for the night (they have to be inside other they bark at the wildlife over the fence) and she's curled up in a tight little ball with on intention of coming in.

Banjo usually sleeps on the top of the couch (see below) or on my bed (starting at the end moving up slowly in the night to be nearly on the pillow! haha)
But often sleeps on the wooden floor boards sprawled out lol usually in the hallway path
    I think its fine.
