Put off from rescues. My best friend adopted a pomeranian when we were like 12 and it attacked me, turned out came from abusive past when they took it back after attacking two more people. So want to have the puppy from little as have young nephews.

Chanel, I'm happy that you are educating yourself about puppy mills, sadly many people do not know about the horrors that those poor dogs endure.

Your CKCS x Bichon may have the bichon coat now, but that may change as he/she gets older....as soon as you cross two breeds there is no guarantee about what type of fur will be the end result.

Where abouts are you located? We may be able to point you to a rescue group that has what you are looking for, or to a reputable breeder.

If you have allergies, bichons, poodles are the most hypoallergenic, but you can also look at any long haired dog such as maltese, schnauzers, silkies etc...if they need to be clipped then the chances are that they won't set off allergies. It's the dogs that moult that tend to cause allergic reactions.

In a nutshell, don't go near them with a ten foot pole!

Find a breed that is suitab;le, such as one of those mentioned above by Grey's, then find a reputable registered breeder.

Yeah well my Cavachon had a kidney stone caused from either malnutrition or really bad food, and we have only ever fed her science diet food. She had an op to have it removed as it was so large, but not before she ruined out couch due to her lack of bladder control (she would wee just from jumping up onto the couch) and now is on prescription science diet food ONLY! So this time wanted to check further but was hoping that breeder was ok. Any way live in adelaide, and would like a bichon, love their temprement of cuddley and playful!

    Welcome to the forum

OK now my 2c worth - this is about tea cup dogs.

The parents are undernourished so as not to grow, then they are bred and produce tea cup or toy. I did some reseach on these when I got 2 x toy Shar Pei into care. They are reputed to have a lot of health problems. Not something to rush into IMHO

If i was you i would be more freaken put off by puppy farmers & deliberate cross breeding.

IMO it's not very nice of you judge all rescue dog's so harshly just because you had one lousy bad experience from a POM...

I really feel so sorry for all the rescue dogs out there. The poor dogs have suffered enough & don't need any negative vibes etc.

Guy's.. just to let you know.. i'm not sorry for what i just said & nor am i going to explain myself or apologise for my feelings or my words..

Ok so I know not all rescue dogs are going to be like that, and am not 'judging' them, I realise that you are all for rescue dogs, I would just like to have a dog from a puppy. I think my dog I have now would respond better to a new baby rather than an older or adult dog. She is very spoilt and this way it may seem like her baby rather than an intruder.
