personally i think this is all related to the media people like don burke promoting "designer dogs" I grew up with pure breed dogs and there was a time not that long ago that due to the hype people were shunning pure breeds.

I have a mutt but not because i went out looking for one! i got mine as a rescue and sure she had a couple of issues but at least she was fully grown, was partly trained and was a perfect fit for me.

if you are really hooked on getting a mix, please talk to rescue, the RSPCA or animal welfare, they will help you find the right dog for you and they will provide you with support and health checks, often you can still get a pup or young dog but be aware that not all mixes turn out the same, at our dog park there are spoodles ranging from about 5kg up to about 50 kg, so know what you are getting yourself into.

I had 'heard' that dogs were being bred with poodles, as they dont cause allergies in humans.
I have read the research since. There is no clinical research evidence that supports this claim.
I have a man, i meet in the morings. He has a Golden retriever x poodle. All the worst traits of both dogs in the one. Nice! AND, he's blonde, with wirey hair that all the mud sticks too. lol

I don't think it's claimed that all direct poodle x shedding whatever crosses don't cause allergies 100% of the time - just those that develop the poodle coat, which is true. But really, if the only reason people want a poodle x specifically is for the non allergenic coat I'm not sure why they don't just get a poodle :S.
