Rest assured that we fully plan to give him lots of love and attention after work and on the weekends. We have a large park opposite our home that would be great for walks and playing. We were looking at Maltese and Shihtzus because we read on a WEBSITE that these dogs are ok with smaller spaces; and that the cross-breed version had less health problems.

If anyone has any useful advice that I can take on board I would really appreciate it.
    Hey

Like I said before Tibbies are great for everything you just mentioned. And I have already let you know my thoughts on those others you are talkinf about. I think you need an independant breed that will be ok to be left on its own. I would go with spaniels and stear clear of terrior breeds if I were you (not that you mentioned one lol)... umm, yeh I cant think of anything else right now

Sorry Ashaari I forgot your wonderful breed. Excellent for the working home.

I also love the Japanese Chin to look at, not all that familiar with their temperament.

Also while we are chatting, are you aware we may have met??

Well...you did say you did the NDTF course?? Is that right??

And if I have the right person you also brought with you what might have been a Cresty x Whip??

I worked for Steve & Vicki Austin.

I haven't dealt with these people, but the only type of organized thing I've found for a designer breed with breed standards etc is the Australian Labradoodle Association (Australian Labradoodle Association). I don't know if this is the type of mix you'd be looking for and haven't dealt with anyone there personally, but might be worth checking them out

The information given to her was done so judgementally, just as what is happening here. IMO so far Amy has given the best, most helpful advice in this thread. I've just read through the entire thing too.

I know Amy didn't understand it because I explained to her what was wrong with the picture myself. I did it without judging her, without telling her she's a bad person for getting Poppy the way she did.

Fair enough we all tried to explain it, BUT no-one did it in a way that was understandable. I'm certain that she felt judged, isolated, attacked and upset about the way the information was first presented to her.

I agree that BYB, Mills/Farmers, Pet shops and purpose bred crosses are a very bad thing. The start of it was Don Burke btw, and even I believed him at the time.

We can spout off how bad these people are all we like, but until we try to be more understanding of those who don't know any better, they're going to go RUNNING to those who support them and tell them they are doing the right thing (even if those same people are the ones doing the wrong thing).

I hope you can understand what I'm saying here.
With a due respect Angela...I was talking to Amy and I am pretty sure she can talk for herself!

See above Cleas I'm sorry if I caused you any offence, just wanted to explain it from a different perspective.
