Wow, I've just read through this thread....

I just cannot believe the opposition you are facing from your parents. Their dogmatic approach to this must be sooooo hard to deal with. We are all very frustrated for you!

Masha you are being very couragous. Keep up the good work!

Thinking here. I wonder if your mum had to deal with excessive crying from you as a bub and if she felt picking you up every time you cried was good or bad. It would really be only good going this route if you knew the answer in advance because if she left you a while to cry, to teach you it was not rewarded it could be likened to this situation. If however she ran to comfort you at every whimper you will shoot yourself in the foot with this argument.

Angela, how can I do it indoors? In the TOT info sheet it says to walk away till the dog looks like he thinks the food wasnt for him (for Dora its like 20meters)... my room is.... maximum 6meters in length. I will try it tomorrow arvo, because in the mornings its just easier outside.

Oh, and good news - she's finally eaqting her dry food! I just offered her a handful and she ate it! Im so happy. I put it in her treat ball, and I took some from the treat ball, maybe she thinks its special?
I just really hope this TOT thing works out.

Put it as far as you can away. Do everything else in the same way. With Batty he was a total of maybe 4 feet away from him when we started

If you treat the kibble like it's special she will think it's special If you treat the treat ball as special and anything that comes out of it too, same thing applies IMO it's all in the delivery!

Batty was doing the same thing! He was too distracted outside so it had to be done inside and I had limited space.
