Thread: She Still Does It...

    Default She Still Does It...

The dreaded bottom dragging that is. Poppy is regularly wormed and flea treated. She also is treated for mites & mange and heartworm using the same spot on thats used for fleas.

She has had her bottom checked by the vet...anal glands and all. She said it was fine. She had a complete health check at the vet. All fine.

Thing is...she still does the bottom drag!

Sometimes its after a poo which I think fair enough...other times its just whenever. Its not something she does often or everyday but def a few times a week.

Is this normal/ok? Its embarrasing when she does it in front of other people...like the neighbours for example! I know if I saw a doggy do this I would think...WORMS!!!

Sounds like you've got everything covered amy, maybe she just has an itchy date?

Sometimes dogs just DO that....and usually in front of people!

Thanks! I often check it out to see if it looks red as when the vet checked it it was a little pink and so I got some neocort cream to keep on hand and apply when needed (joys of puppy ownership!)

If you've done all the right things then yep not much you can do.

Dogs hey! All class some times.

Maybe she eats and chews things that don't pass thru her cleanly.

Maybe she just wants to wipe her bum.

Hmm...That just sparked my memory...she LOVES to chew up the small pieces of bark on the retaining wall. We discourage her from being on the retaining wall and fish the back out of her mouth/make her spit it out most times, BUT I know there have been times when very little bits of bark have come out in her poo. Maybe this has something to do with it? She also loves to chew grass and sometimes has very grassy poos!

My boy likes to eat this particular plant, can't remember its name now, but it has unusual red flowers in the centre and long thick leaves. Its only shallow rooted and he pulls them out and runs around the yard with them. They self multiply.

Sometimes when he digests some of the leaves they pass thru him and kind of string the poo together, if it doesn't come cleanly out he runs around the yard at the same time looking at his bum with with this horrified look as thought to say "its following me".

At 16 months he's finally slooowlyyyy growing out of eating it. Bromiliard or something like that the plant is.

I know it can't harm him because he's eaten that many of them.

Sound like Clivia MAC, I have a couple here, well, unless they've been trampled!

They're not the clivia, we have them too but they look similar and like similar conditions. He doesn't touch those. I'm sure my husband said bromiliard or something similar.
