Default Advice for Introducing Puppy to Lots of New People???

OH and I are having about 6 friends over tomorrow for a BBQ. It will be a great time for Poppy to socialise with people other than us!

Any tips for making it a POSITIVE experience for Poppy and everyone else???

Just tell everyone what to do if poppy does something wrong. When we got Boss we went to alot of BBQs with him. He learnt that he could get one pat from everyone then he gotta to go away and leave everyone alone. He would find a corner and go to sleep.

I have a large extended family which are generally always popping by, so far we have had good experiences a bit over excited at times, (due to the humans getting overly excited too lol lots of kids) but we are slowly conquering that because its cute now while he is smallish but I don't want a jumping full grown Leo lol.

I have a bag of treats that I cut into tiny pieces and give one to each guest (if there is not an incredible amount of people) tell them to make Leo sit and then give him a treat and pat/attention. Leo is so food driven that he just continues to sit down near anyone thinking food will come again lol but he is just as happy with the cuddles and pats.

Your the best judge of how Poppy is handling it all, If it seems she is stressing out take her to a place she feels safe, maybe bring her bed or rug to an area away from where you will all be but still within eyesight so she can see you. If that still stresses her out prehaps a nice quiet part of the house is where she needs to be.

Hope it all goes well, Love a good BBQ

    Thanks for the replies!

The BBQ went well and she loved everyone!

She was a bit timid at first but we offered guests treats to feed her as they arrived and met her. After that she seemed okay, lying at our feet, running around the yard.

Everyone LOVED her and treated her the way we do...except for one "friend" who called her a "sh!thead for biting her toes". We were like she is chewing...its what puppies do...just say NO!
