    Default Best Toys to Entertain/stimulate???

    Hi All,

Just after some reccomendations of toys for an 11 (almost 12) week old puppy. She has two squeaky chew toys. Both fabric with bits of plastic and one with a little rope. I feel she needs more now she is getting older. I was thinking a kong...

    WDYT???

Kongs are fantastic, entertain my herd for hours. (With the right treat inside! )

I put treats in the far end then peanut butter. Some use liverworst, all kinds of stuff.

Thanks Di...I tend to thow her the roll from the paper towel and she goes crazy with that but it does get to the point where the fun has to end! She also loves whole toilet rolls but Mummy and Daddy don't endorse that! Haha!

Kongs are confusing me...how exactly do they work/what do they do???

With my kong, when I got it home I made up some stock (beef or chicken) in a container and put the kong (rinse the kong well first). I let the kong sit in there until it cools right down to room temperature then I put the container (with the kong still in the stock) into the fridge overnight. This gets rid of the rubbery smell/taste that a lot of dogs don't like.

For fillings I put a little peanut butter across one end. I then use GSD's treats mixed with a little bit of kibble to fill it and cover that with cool stock. That goes on a plate in the freezer with some baking paper underneath it (because the peanut butter sticks to the plate and is impossible to get off).

I have a round container that's only a little bigger than the kong that I put it into and freeze just with stock as an ice block when it's really hot. His bones and chicken wings/necks are also frozen because he takes his time with them that way!

We have the puppy kongs amy. They're the little pink or blue ones. You just put some treats, or kibble, or anything else your pup loves, smear some peanut butter or maybe a little bit of cream cheese over the top and around the sides and let her go nuts! You can buy actual Kong treats, but they're pretty pricey I think.

Mine just have theirs as normal play toys most of the time now, they love them because they bounce around and are nice for their brand new adult teeth to chew on!

Mine also love Nylabones - they chew on them all day and then take them to bed. They last for ages too.
