    Default The DIY Crate :)

    PRESENTING the DIY crate!

Well.... Today mum was going to the shops and while she was there, she was going to have a look at the crate I’d been eyeing. Anyway... She returned and told me the crate wasn’t very good, apparently it seemed weak/etc.

SO! Mum and me decided to get creative!

We got 2 wire-holder-thingies out of the wardrobe and zip-clipped them together, then we snapped off a rectangle wire panel off a birdcage to create a door – We added a clip at the top to be able to shut and open the door

    OPEN

    CLOSED

COMFORTS – ‘special’ pillow, chew-toy, towel-over-cover, towel to cover wire ramp

    What do you think?
Its only been a matter of minutes, but Mollie is already entering, lying down for a while and the coming back out – she has collected a few of her favourite toys and assembled them in it – aswell as my fathers socks (He was looking for them an found them in her crate) I cant believe how used to it she has gotten SO fast!

    Now for question;

I wasn’t going to close it tonight, as to let her get used to it for awhile – when should I begin closing it on the night-time?

Thanks guys! I am just happy she likes it and I didnt have to fork over any of my limited funds LOL
Mol-Mol seems very excited... She'll be lying near my foot, then she'll jump up, run away and when I go see what she is up to 5 minutes later, she will be in her crate!

    I can see you Mollie!

GAG, my computer does that sometimes :/ LOL Your not missing out on much, it basically looks like a re-formed white bird cage with a cushion

She is so cute, lying in her crate, all snuggled up!
Would you be able to be more specific in your instructions?
Oh, and what is her little pillow made out of? It looks very comfy!

Thanks Masha, and I’ll have a go at explaining better!
This thread is gunna be SO full of photos LOL

Started with THIS. Mum had 2 of these in her wardrobe full of clothes/socks/etc. I obviously put one upside down and balanced it on top of other. I secured it by using zip-clips.

Here is a blurry photo of the zip-clips. I used a lot of these on each side to make sure it was stable and secure.

Here is a side on view of the whole thing.
The door was made by my dis-assembling an old birdcage. I snapped off a rectangle-wire piece as you can see and secured one length to the bottom via... Yes, you guessed it... ZIP-CLIPS! I left the zip-clips a little looser to make sure the door could move easily. I then found an old-key ring with a clip on the end. I fastened the key ring to the top of the cage to aid in shutting the door and keeping it shut when needed.

Hope that helped – I SUCK at explaining these types of things!

OH and her pillow is ALL fluffy. Its like rreally fluffy on one side and like vinal (SP?) on the other
