    Default Puppy Peeing

    Hi all

My pup is 8 months old & is toilet trained but whenever people come round our house or even if we go out & someone comes near her she gets so excited that she pees.............it is really embarrasing & I don't know how to stop it.

I have tried it that when people come in to not look at her or pay her attention, which they do, but as soon as they do touch her.........she pees!!

Last week I picked her up from doggy day care & there was a woman picking up her pooch too & the woman didn't even look at Blue yet Blue went up to her & peed infront of her with excitment!! Blue doesn't even know it is coming out.

Is this just something she will grow out of?

I have absolutely no idea how to help you but I did have a dog who used to do that and by the time he was about 2 he grew out of it. I sure their will be others on here that it has happened to and were able to deal with it. Good luck!

Thanks Cate, I am hoping it is something she will grow out of, I just thought she would have by now, but if you are saying that yours did until he was 2 then maybe I just need to wait a bit longer with my fingers crossed lol

Must admit I've not had excitement peeing in a pup as old as 8 months, but since she's obviously able to hang on in the house (toilet trained), I can't see it as being anything else.

All I can suggest is distraction when people come to the house, chew stick or something just before you answer the door??

Sumo does this too...I tell people BEFORE they get in the house...ignore him or he will pee on your foot. It is embarrassing, but can be controlled if people ignore him for the first 10-15 min

Yeh I guess that when people come round they probably don't ignore Blue for long enough so maybe I could give that a try. How old is Sumo?

Just seen that you have replied to Sumo's age already.

Does Sumo do it outside the house with people too?
